Easy mac & cheese


Make your own delicious mac and cheese with this quick and tasty version! 

Ingredients:

  • 200 g macaroni
  • 50 g butter
  • 50 plain flour
  • 600 ml milk
  • 2 tsp mustard
  • 175 g cheese (gouda or cheddar)
  • salt and pepper
  • 25 g cheese

Preheat the oven to 180C.  Wipe an oven proof dish with butter. Prepare the macaroni to package instructions and drain the pasta. Melt the butter in a pot on low heat then add the flour and cook it for a minute. Remove the pot from the stove and add some milk and stir, then gradually add the rest of the milk and mix it until it is mixed well. Place the pot back on the stove and let it simmer further. Constantly stir the mixture or the sauce will stick to the bottom. The sauce will start to thicken. Let it boil for 1 minute then remove from the heat. Stir the mustard and cheese in and mix. Pour the macaroni into the cheese sauce and mix it well. Add salt and pepper to your liking and pour it into the prepared dish. Sprinkle the cheese over the top and place the dish in the oven. Bake it for about 30 minutes until golden brown on top!
